Skill Building Is Our Passion

Drawing Leads Our Curriculum

At the heart of our program is skill building, with drawing serving as the foundation of every student's artistic journey.

In today's world, social media has opened the door to an incredible range of artistic styles and creative inspiration. While this has encouraged more young people to explore art, it can also feel overwhelming without the fundamental skills needed to bring their ideas to life.

Through one-on-one mentorship and our unique, skill-based drawing curriculum, we provide students with the confidence and technical foundation they need to develop their own creative voice. Rather than simply copying what they see, students learn the essential skills that allow them to create with understanding, purpose, and imagination.

Why Drawing Matters

As both an artist and instructor, Peggy-Lynn has seen firsthand through many years of teaching that drawing is the essential starting point for every visual artist.

Drawing develops an understanding of form, proportion, scale, depth, perspective, light, and observation— the building blocks of all visual art. By learning these fundamentals first, students gain the confidence and ability to tackle more complex mediums, such as painting, without becoming overwhelmed by managing both technique and materials at the same time.

A strong drawing foundation equips students to accurately interpret and represent the world around them while also giving them the skills to express their own unique artistic vision. It is a lifelong skill that supports creativity across every artistic medium.

Illustration - Modern Tools / Timeless Art Principles

Our art school is not rooted in the past—it embraces the evolution of today’s visual culture.

We give the next generation the professional tools they are naturally drawn to use, including high quality colored pencils, illustration markers, gel pens, paint markers and watercolor, while strategically teaching the timeless principles of drawing and illustration that make those tools truly effective.

The result is a modern approach to learning colour: relevant to today’s young artists, yet grounded in the fundamental art skills that stand the test of time.

Private Lesson Planning

Our studio understands that every student has unique interests and individual goals in what they enjoy drawing and illustrating. Within our intimate studio setting, the instructor mentors each student individually, taking the time to understand their interests, abilities, and level of comprehension.

Each student’s lessons are then individually planned and prepared by the instructor, with projects selected and structured specifically for that student. This personalized approach allows students to develop their skills while working on subjects that genuinely interest and motivate them.

Students alternate between focused drawing exercises that develop essential foundations—including scale and proportion, value and shading, perspective, form, and spatial awareness—and carefully planned projects that apply these skills through color illustration.

This means that students are not simply following a standard class project. Their learning path is personally prepared and guided by the instructor.
